Leveraging Digital and Technological Innovations in Cardio-Oncology: Building Collaborative Networks, Implementing Education, and Improving the Cardiac Outcomes of Patients

Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network

In the Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network we’re promoting innovative initiatives and collaboration to advance the care of cancer patients and survivors. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of our patients.

Who We Are

Here at Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support and collaboration. Since our founding in 2018, we have been determined to make an impact. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of innovative activities on which we collaborate and about which we educate ourselves and others.

Our Tripartite Mission

Welcome to the Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network (COIN). We are excited that you have joined us. COIN was conceived a couple of years ago to create a network of individuals in cardiology, oncology, other areas of health care, industry, regulatory affairs, finance, and more. We envision COIN developing into a consortium to focus on innovation, collaboration, and education in Cardiology and Oncology with emphases on the interface of the two (Cardio-Oncology), especially prevention.

Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network (COIN) Virtual Reception February 2021 - PreSocial

Welcome to the Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network (COIN). We are excited that you have joined us. COIN was conceived a couple of years ago to create a network of individuals in cardiology, oncology, other areas of health care, industry, COINregulatory affairs, finance, and more. We envision COIN developing into a consortium to focus on innovation, collaboration, and education in Cardiology and Oncology with emphases on the interface of the two (Cardio-Oncology), especially prevention. In the network, we will collaborate on various projects including multi-center AI applications and informatics-enabled registries. We may also collaborate with ACC, AHA, and ICOS on the EHR Dot Phrase/Template project and many others. We had an inaugural introductory virtual Zoom Steering Committee style summit in December 2020 that consisted of a multi-stakeholder group from academia, technology, and industry with a shared interest in applying Innovation (Digital Health, mHealth, Telemedicine, Telehealth, Informatics, Precision Health, Computational Medicine, AI, ML, DL, NLP, NN, Social Media, & more) to Cardiology and Oncology clinical practice, research, and education. We also held a virtual reception on February 6 to discuss the next steps for the network. Our next event will be a collaborative, virtual ThinkTank in August (date and time TBD; enrich involvement of Oncology team members). During this ThinkTank, we will break into small working groups to address the following topics relevant to innovation in cardiology/oncology/cardio-oncology that were discussed at the virtual reception: Prevention/disparities; Artificial intelligence integration; Role of informatics in a global REDCap registry; Education on innovation + innovative delivery methods for education in cardio-oncology; We will also host the annual virtual summit in December 2021 (likely the second Saturday, but date and time TBD). For more information, please contact us at: CardioOncCOIN@gmail.com, and follow us on Twitter @CardioOncCOIN.
